How To Choose The Best Vibrator – A Guide For Women

ARTICLES, MIND, BODY & SOUL | |

What’s the best vibrator to buy to keep tucked away in your panty drawer for those special occasions?

Your Preference

The first thing to ask yourself when buying your new toy, is, what is it that you want from your new vibrator? You need to be aware that are many different types, shapes and sizes of vibrators that do completely different things. So your own personal preference will play an important part in choosing the right one for you.

Each type of vibrator targets different areas of your sexual hot spots while assisting you in achieving orgasms. For example, there are clitoral vibrators like the Lelo Nea, which is designed for external use on the body’s surface to stimulate the clitoris directly, or there are penetrative vibrators like the Lelo Elise, or even the Lelo Gigi which is designed to target your g-spot area in particular.

Everyone has different requirements, but there are some important questions you should ask yourself before buying, and hopefully the following will serve as a good guide in finding the best vibrator for your needs.

Size and Fit

Knowing about your body and what you like in terms of size and comfort is an important thing to consider before choosing any vibrator or sex toy. As a guide, perhaps you could think about some the types of partner’s penises you’ve enjoyed in the past, but of course keeping in mind that it’s not always just about size that felt good. Either way, this should still serve you as a good guide to what kind of size you might prefer in a penetrative vibrator. The clitoral style vibrators are a different sensation altogether, and the ones that have a good feel and a number of different speeds work best.

A personal favorite of mine, and one that’s more realistic, is a vibrator that delivers both clitoral and g-spot stimulation. And that’s where a rabbit style vibrator comes in very useful. The ‘rabbit’ has a penetrative device, which can be used on your g-spot, and it also has a bunny ear to get the job done outside on the clitoris. Be warned though – there are so many totally garbage rabbit style vibrators out there. The one that I personally like is the Jimmyjane Iconic Rabbit vibrator, or the Lelo Ina Rabbit vibrator. These are two of the best vibrators I have come across, and both are made by two of the best vibrator designers in the world.

Material and Quality

Not all vibrators are made the same. Mark my word on that one girls! Some vibrators that look appealing to the eye are completely hard and rigid once inside you and cause more pain than pleasure. That’s why at Females Pleasure we make a special effort to only review the best vibrators that not only look great, but feel amazing too.

It’s worth pointing out that some of the cheaper vibrators available are made with materials that are not so good for your body. In most cases it’s best to purchase vibrators that are made with 100% medical grade silicon, which also feels great against your skin. On the other hand, vibrators or sex toys that contain a chemical known as Phthalates are bad, very bad. Phthalates are known to be toxic to humans, so it makes complete sense to avoid anything that contains this.

Generally speaking, you get what you pay for with vibrators, and that’s why the more premium brands out there are made with more expensive, but completely safe materials. They also have motors that last far longer. They do cost a bit more for the buyer, but they definitely deliver in more ways than the cheaper ones.

Vibrations and Noise Level

Believe it or not, but vibration noise is a very important factor to consider when it comes to choosing the best vibrator. The last thing you want when trying to relax and reach orgasm, is the sound and feeling of some mini jack hammer rattling around inside your body. The more expensive vibrators are usually dead silent, which is great. The better ones also come with a number of settings you can change just in case you need it to pack a little more punch. They should also come with a number of built in rhythmic vibrations so you can experiment and find one that drives you wild.

Waterproof Vibrators

While this is a personal preference, let me ask you girls this; What could be better than a relaxing lie down in a bathtub full of bubbles, some soft music playing, dim lights, shutting your eyes thinking of that secret fantasy, and playing with your favorite toy? I’ll say no more to that one! If you can find a good one, then waterproof vibrators are the best! Just be careful here though, as some vibrators are only ‘water-resistant’, which means they can get wet in the shower, but not submerged in the bathtub. The Lelo Soraya is the best vibrator in this league, and it’s completely waterproof and delivers like no other.

Ask Someone That Knows

Talk to some of your girlfriends about the sex toys they’ve used in the past. Most good friends won’t have a problem talking about this when it’s raised in a cordial way. But if you prefer not to do this, then you can ask me anonymously on the Females Pleasure Forum, where we have a dedicated section for vibrator and sex toy reviews. Alternatively, you can post your questions on the Females Pleasure Facebook page.

I’d be happy to hear your thoughts, and if you have any questions, please let me know.

Enjoy! xoxo
